Nina and Casey Maternity | Red River Wildlife Refuge | Shreveport Photographer

Can we just start this session off by saying can you believe it was over 100 degrees?!?! Take that into consideration when looking at these images and be super impressed at how well these two handled the heat. Like, I was pouring sweat.

Nina and Casey are expecting a sweet baby boy and I am so beyond thrilled to be able to document their maternity and newborn session. This is the stuff I live for. Oh, it’s my favorite!!

We met at the Red River Wildlife Refuge in Shreveport, LA on one of the hottest days of the year. I’m not even being dramatic!! Y’all it was hot!

For this session, I shot with the 85mm lens for the first time and I completely fell in love. Like, I was probably driving them crazy with how obsessed I was with these images as I was taking them. Oh man! It was so, so good!!

Nina and Casey were so easy to photograph and you wouldn’t believe this was their first time to have professional images taken of them. What an incredible honor that is for me to be the first to professionally photograph them and how amazing they are at modeling for this to be their very first time. They were incredible!

I am so excited and waiting anxiously for the arrival of their precious baby boy, as I know they are too. I can not wait to get these two in front of my camera again, and this time with their sweet babe.

Neevan’s First Birthday | Shreveport Louisiana Baby Photographer

Sweet Neevan turns ONE!! This horse derby themed birthday party in Shreveport was seriously so cute!! Neevan was such a happy boy for his big day too. It can be hard for little ones with so many people looking at them constantly but he was a champ!

All the details within this party were thought out so carefully and looked so wonderful. Great job, mama!!

It was a hot day in Shreveport, Louisiana but it was worth it to get a little ride on the horses in the backyard. All the kids loved that! It is so fun to see the different activities that mamas come up with for these sweet baby’s first birthday parties. I just love getting to document all these special moments of motherhood!!

Happy first birthday Neevan. You are such a precious baby boy.

Byram Family | North Louisiana Family Photographer

Meet the Byram family. If you’re from the North Louisiana area then you probably know a few of these faces from the medical field. George Byram is a CRNA at Minden Medical and Trey Byram is an Orthopedic Surgeon in Shreveport. How neat is that?

It was such an honor to meet these lovely people and play a part in documenting their family.

It was a hot day and rain was threatening to ruin the session, but we decided to risk it. The rain cleared away and the sun broke through the clouds. It ended up being lovely! I was so glad we didn’t reschedule.

We planned our session together in the flags that the Abshire’s put out each year. These flags are something special and it was wonderful to be able to photograph another family in them.

Sweet Cooper. Oh how I loved this newborn session. I mean, look at the nursery. AH, I love it!!!

Rachel reached out to me to photograph her sweet baby boy that was on the way and I was so thrilled. Newborn sessions are very high up on the list of being my absolute favorite to photograph. I love to capture the beauty in parenthood. I know without any doubt it is a hard season of life. Bringing these brand new, helpless little babies home from the hospital is scary. You aren’t sure if you’re doing anything right. I mean, is there really a right or wrong way?? As long as they are loved and looked after I would say you are doing it right. I digress. This season of life is hard, but I find so much joy in knowing that I can captures moments for brand new parents that lets them see just how beautiful this new role is. And that they are stepping into it so perfectly.

Sweet Cooper did so good for me. He slept most of the time. Ah, a newborn photographer’s dream. We even got Hopper in some images and he did awesome. Such a good boy!

This newborn session was an absolute dream and I am so thrilled to share this post with y’all. I hope you love it as much as me. I may have delivered a ridiculous amount of images from this session. HA!!

NOW is the time to start booking your fall family sessions!

I know it’s still summer and 100 degrees outside *quite literally* but the sooner you book the more likely you’ll get on our calendar. Spots will fill up FAST!!!

Fall sessions can be booked for dates between September 12- December 9th.

Abshire Family | North Louisiana Photographer

The Abshire family. Oh how I love to photograph them. The sweetest little boys you ever did see.

Two years ago I met the Abshires at their home for a sweet family session that ended with going out to Dr. Abshire’s flags. If you’re from Homer, Louisiana then you probably know about the Abshire’s flags. It’s a beautiful sight.

I was thrilled when Micah reached out to have me come and photograph them in the flags again. I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to have clients that come back year after year for more portraits. It thrills my heart and is truly the greatest compliment.

We knew it would be a hot one so we decided to get up with the sunrise and do our session first thing in the morning. I have only done a handful of early morning sessions and let me tell you, this one here made me fall in love with the early morning light. It is so soft and gorgeous,

We certainly weren’t able to beat the heat, but in all reality, it would have been far worse in the evening. So I guess we did beat the heat. Ha! It was still an incredibly muggy morning. If you know how summer mornings are in Louisiana then you know what I mean.

I was struggling with my lens fogging up but man, some of the images where my lens fogged up were so fun!

I love this family and I love how easy they are to photograph. It is such a joy to work with you and your family, Micah!

Conroy Maternity | Minden Louisiana Maternity Photographer

My sister is having her fourth little girl so we’re adding to the girl tribe on my side of the family. All the grand babies are girls. Talk about loud when they all get together. It is so fun for them, though!

Jessica is having her baby in September so that put her maternity session right in the middle of summer. Here in North Louisiana, summer is HOT!! Mix heat and humidity with being pregnant and its not the best combo. I didn’t want to have her out in the heat for long so we opted to do most of the portraits in her home. I set up my off camera flash and we got to work.

After the indoor portion we went to downtown Minden and found a beautiful crepe myrtle tree to get a few outdoor images. This is the way to go when it’s as hot as it has been!

I love these images so much and can’t wait to add this sweet little bundle of joy to our family. It won’t be much longer until we are photographing this sweet brand new baby.

Vivian’s First Birthday | Shreveport Louisiana Baby Photographer

You’re going to want to sit down for this one if you’re not already

Oh my goodness. Sweet Vivian turned one and her little birthday party was the prettiest I have seen. The balloons, the cake, everything. Mama did such a good job with this party!!

Deborah contacted me to photograph her baby’s first birthday party and I was so excited! I love being able to document precious moments for mamas all over North Louisiana. There is almost nothing I find more joy in than knowing I am able to take a load off mamas and just let them enjoy these special moments. Planing a party is hard. Hosting the party is hard. Keeping up with your busy one year old is hard! Let’s not add trying to document the party to the list of things you need to do.

Little Vivi was so happy all day and loved all the attention being on her. She was the special little lady today. I loved following her around and capturing some of her sweet smiles and the joy that she brings to her family.

It was such an honor to be here for this special day and I can’t thank you all enough for having me.

Shull Extended Family | North Louisiana Photographer

The cream of the crop, that’s who these people are. It’s hard to find a more genuine group than these.

When Jessica reached out to me to gift her mother with a family session for Christmas I was thrilled. First, what a Christmas gift. And second, yay! I get to document their family. This is something I adore. Not that you haven’t heard that before. I love preserving memories like these for a lifetime. Time truly slips through our hands and years go by in the amount of time that feels like mere days.

It’s not every day that the Shull families are all together. Anna and Craig live in Connecticut, which is quite a ways from us here in Louisiana. When we found out they were coming for a quick visit we knew we had to get these photos done then.

Thankfully, everything came together and we had a lovely day for photos. Not too hot, not raining. The location was stellar, if you ask me. Everything was just right.

We had so much fun together. Towards the end I let all the grandkids just have fun and be silly. Let me tell you, they did not disappoint. Ha!!

I have photographed these two for the last three years and I couldn’t be more happy about it. Each time they reach out to book, I get more excited. Each session we have together gets better and better. They are so easy to photograph!

This time we wanted a little change. We usually do their session in the Winter. This time we decided to do it in the Spring. Florals, bright green colors. What more could you ask for??

We both, at almost the same time, suggested the American Rose Garden in Shreveport Louisiana for the location. Fate? Destiny? Probably so.

The date of the session came and it was gloomy, raining, storming here and there, so incredibly humid. I ended up getting sick. Justin got called out to work. Ugh. Let’s just reschedule for next weekend.

As the next date approached it was showing rain again. NOOO!!!

Once the day arrived everything cleared up other than it was supposed to be cloudy. I was actually good with this because this location closes at 5 which makes it hard to shoot during golden hour when the sun sets at 7:40 right now. We decided to start at 3:30 and hope for clouds. Clouds were forecasted so I was feeling confident. In all reality, I do know how to shoot in harsh light. It is just usually not my favorite look.

When we arrived at the location, there was not a cloud in the sky. Not a one. AHHH!! It was HOT! It was crazy humid. Oh boy.

Once we started, some clouds started forming and it was constant in and out. Bright sun. Clouds. Harsh light. Soft light. If you are a photographer who shoots in manual mode then you know the difficulty that light like this brings. You are constantly changing your settings.

Thankfully with the Canon R6 I can see what the image will look like before I take it. SOOO nice!

Anyways, back to where we were…

I was nervous about the light. I was nervous about how much we were all sweating. It was a lot! But these are my absolute favorite images we have created together. You can’t even tell it was so hot. You can’t tell it was 5 hours before golden hour. I love these and that is all.
