Meet the Abshire and Murphee families!!

We met over the July 4th weekend for this sweet session in small town Homer, Louisiana with Micah’s family while they were in town and I can’t express what a joy it was to meet them all! When we first arrived we were greeted by some warm hellos and cute little boys peeking at us behind the bushes. They were nonstop fun!

It was a perfect July evening in North Louisiana. In fact, it was really unusually nice for this area. Typically July is so hot and humid that you’re miserable, but this evening was perfect. We couldn’t have asked for better temps!

Micah and her family were some of the sweetest people that I’ve had the pleasure of meeting! Her boys were the cutest little things. I couldn’t get over the curls! Maybe it’s because I have curly hair, myself, but I just love seeing curls on little kids. It’s just the cutest thing! And that little smiley Sully Baby. Oh my word!!

I had the pleasure of meeting Micah’s brother and his family along with her mom and dad, as well. They had the most precious little southern baby girls. One of which, being the same age as my Emma. Two is a fun age that comes with lots of unpredictability, but she did good! And those eyes. Goodness, she had the cutest big brown eyes!

I think it’s safe to say that by now you know just how much I loved this session and this wonderful family. It was an absoulte dream!!

Are you ready to see these sweet images?? I know you are!!

Oh Brooke. The sweetest little thing I ever did see. It seems like not too long ago I was photographing her as a 5 pound newborn and now she’s 18 months! Where does time go!?!

Brooke is my little niece. Her and Emma love each other so much. They are the best of friends and boy do they cause trouble. HA! They are both so much alike it’s not even funny. But they sure are a cute cousin pair.

When our Wisteria was in bloom on our land just between Minden and Homer, LA we had watned to get some pictures of Brooke but things never aligned right and they faded out before we could get anything. Our wild roses on the land came in bloom this past week and so we decided to give those a try. I had never photographed this spot before because its always been overgrown. But, thankfully, Brooke’s daddy saved the day by cutting all the overgrowth around them out with his tractor! YAY!! We rushed down the field with only 10 minutes to shoot beofre a storm rolled in and we got it done!! As soon as we were done, in fact, it started to rain. HA! Good timing, right? I think so.

Now that I know what these roses look like in camera, I may have to get my girls down here too. I love the pops of pink!

Now to the reason you’re here in the first place- here’s sweet Brooke!!

Sweet Anna Claire. She’s the cutest little thing I ever did see.

I’ve known Amy and Micah my whole life. Seeing them now as parents to such a sweet baby girl is so fun. I know she lights up their life just as our two girls do for us. One thing is for sure, your life is never the same after these sweet babies enter the world. Harder, yes. But so much better!

I loved getting to photograph little Anna Claire in the comfort of their home in Bossier City, LA. To me, that makes these images just that much sweeter. They are in a place they spend the majority of their time- home. The photos may be simple, but they capture them loving on their precious new baby and it doesn’t get much better than that! I will never tire of lifestyle newborn sessions.

Little Anna Claire’s nursery is decorated just adorable! I haven’t had the opportunity to decorate a nursery yet, even though I have two kids. So I’ve always loved seeing the ways others decorate their nursery. We are planning to build soon and I’ll finally be able to decorate a room for my girls. I’m getting excited!!!

Alright. I know you’re tiring of my chatting.. so let’s finally get to the whole reason you came here anyways- sweet Anna Claire!

Abigail and Kimberly and soon to be LA Tech graduates and registered dietitians!! These two ladies have endured some long, hard days in Ruston, LA but the light is being seen at the end of the tunnel. They still have some to go before they are licensed, but they have come so far! I couldn’t be more proud of and impressed by them! It was only fitting to do their graduation portraits together because they best friends and have come through so much together. I think it’s so awesome to have your friend go through college with you and even majoring in the same thing. That’s a strong friendship!
These two are not only beautiful and intelligent, but their love for the Lord shines so bright through their lives. I have so admired watching them grow into the wonderful ladies they are. Although myself, not being too much older then them, I have still watched the change that has happened in their lives over the years and it has been such a blessing. They are some of the sweetest girls you’ll meet!

We knew that their portraits should take place at LA Tech in Ruston, LA, where they have spent the last few years of their life. It was only fitting, right?! I had actually never beem to tech before so it was a treat for me. There are so many neat buildings on campus! The time literally flew by as were shooting these portraits. At, what felt like, half way though we checked the time and it had already been an hour and a half!! WHAT?!!? I thought I was reading my watch wrong, but nope! We just had that much fun. And also walked alot. haha!!

But I couldn’t be happier with these portraits and I am so thankful they entrusted me to capture this special season of their lives. I wish you all the best Abigail and Kimberly!

The sweetest little girl came to see me the other day for her turn for portraits in the beautiful wisteria! The weather was looking pretty rough for the time we had selected so we decided to bump it up just to be safe. In true Louisiana weather fashion, it drizzled on us the entire time we were taking these portraits and the sun came out at the original time we had chosen. *insert eye roll*
But we got it done and that’s all that matters!

Little Chloe is so fun and full of energy. She loved the flowers and our dogs. haha!! But all in all, I think her favorite thing was playing peek-a-boo. Little ones around this age can be tricky because they aren’t quite old enough to reaaaally understand what you’re doing with this big black thing in their face. So it really helps to find a game that they like and play until they are comfortable with you. It works every time. Except for when it comes to my own kids, of course. Photographer’s child syndrome. ha!

Alright, alright. I know you didn’t come here to read a book. Let’s get to the adorable portraits in this Louisiana Wisteria!!

You know Spring has hit North Louisiana when the Wisteria starts to bloom. It’s one of my very favorite times of year! Mainly because we have a huge patch of wisteria on our land just outside of Minden, Louisiana that smells simply AMAZING!!! Each year for the past 5 years I have made it a point to get my girls out (it started with just one girl, but now there are two) and get their pictures with the flowers. It never ceases to make my day each and every time!!

The flowers usually last 2 weeks or so before they are gone again so when they are here, we take advantage of them! Side note, there is still time to get YOUR portraits done here!!

Alright, are you ready to see them? I know, I know, you totally are!! Here you go!

When your family comes for a visit all the way from Florida, it’s a given that getting portraits together is going to happen! There is nothing like everyone being together! I love that even though they physically have to go back home, you can cherish those moments you had together and freeze time for just a moment with gorgeous portraits!

We met out in the country in a little town called Shongaloo, Louisiana. This is where I grew up- comeplete middle of nowhere. It’s where I am truly most comfortable. I would rather drive 30 plus minutes to get to a store than live within walking distance. Call me crazy, but that just feels like home. So any chance I get, we are doing portraits out in the wide open country! Of course, I know that is not everyone’s cup of tea, so I do not force that on anyone.

Starting to ramble here, aren’t I? Oops! OK, about these beautiful portraits! These kids were so fun and full of energy, each one loving their time in front of the camera! They told me they had never been in photographed before, but let me tell you, I coulnd’t tell! They were absolute pros!! Everything went so smoothly and easily that we shot right up until the sun was sinking behind the tree line. That’s what I call a good session.

Alright, are you tired of me chatting yet? Ready to see this sweet family session? I thought so..

Sweet little Payton! She was so fun to photograph. Little ones can be a little tricky to photograph becuase they do not always want to cooperate. And I definitely understand their concern!! A big black box is all up in their face and someone they don’t know is behind it being weird. haha!! That’s sure to make anyone nervous. Payton was a champ though! With a little coaxing she warmed right up and we had a good time! She is just too cute and spunky! I loved her personality!
She trusted me pretty well until she stepped in mud by the water, then she felt I had betrayed her. haha!! Poor thing. Mud all over her shoes and pants. Do you blame her? Me either! But we got past that little issue and played a little tug of war. She loved that!!
I think being able to really get down on little one’s levels and just playing with them for a little bit rather than only sticking that camera in their face can make a world of difference! They learn they can trust you and that you are fun then you can really capture their true personality! It works almost every time!

Alriht.. enough of me chatting. Let’s get on with these fun Lake Bistineau portraits!!!

This beautiful mama is expecting her second sweet boy! There is nothing sweeter than having two babies of the same gender close in age. I only say that because that’s what I have- two girls.. and my sister and I were born only 2 years apart. The connection is just so fun! Of course, I know that any siblings born close in age have a fun connection! It’s like a built in best friend for life!

This was a tricky day for maternity portraits because right when they arrived a huge, dark cloud covered the sun! We had no sun for the remainder of the evening. That cloud never left. UGH!!! I knew that if I turned them towards where the light was we would have a little more light, even if it looked like we had nothing. It worked! Thank goodness!

Sweet little Hunter did such a good job! It can be tough on the little ones to be in portraits because they want to be down and running around instead of taking pictures!! He’s a little sweetie and he loves his mama. I know he is just going to be the best big brother!

I know it can be hard to have your portraits taken when you are pregnant. I know when I was pregnant, I did not feel my best at all! It’s normal. But you will not regret getting these sweet portraits during this very special time! You’re body is doing an amazing thing during this time and it so is special to document it!

A Winter Family Session | Benton Louisiana Family Photographer

Portraits in the winter in Louisiana can be a little drab sometimes as we do not have much snow, we have no mountains, and a lot of trees with bare leaves. Thankfully, sometimes there is an excecption and the images look beautiful! These made the expection. We had a few trees that stil had a little amount of leaves on them and the sun shining through them made the difference!! Sometimes winter can be dark and gloomy, but other times the sun shines beautifully!!

I arrived at Melissa’s home about 15 minutes early to scout out the area and find the right spots we would need to be in. As were scouting around, we were stopped by a sweet old man wondering who in the world we were and what we were doing. HAHA!! He was nice, thankfully! We just explained the situation and he was totally ok with us snooping around. HA!

The session was off to great start and even the llittl pup, Maggie gave us some smiles! That’s a good sign, right?! I think so too! As the sun began to drop, so did the temp but everyone was a champ and you can’t even tell we were chilly! That’s always a plus. Also, for any of you from up north, don’t laugh at us for being chilly in 50 degree weather. I know that feels amazing to you! HAHA!

After using as much of their yard as I thought we could, we walked over to the boat dock and were able to get a few beautiful portraits of Melissa and Wesley there. The light was little tricky but I think we made it work wonderfully!

Thank y’all so much for trusting me with your family portraits! Y’all did so good and made my job so easy!!
