The Spikes Family

Oh my word, y’all. If these are the cutest little kids you ever did see. They were so incredibly sweet, too! I loved every single second of our time together. The light was gorgeous, we had hardly a cloud in the sky. It was just a dream come true.

We met at the Red River Wildlife Refuge in Shreveport, LA. This location is so good for families with small kids because there is so much room for them to just be kids. THere’s nothing they can hurt and there’s hardly a car that drives by. There are beautiful trees that create such lovely lead lines. It’s a photographer’s dream!

These sweet boys were so good at having their pictures taken, They so easily warmed up to me and were just able to be themselves. That’s always the best! I don’t ever want kiddos to be afraid of me. Of course that happens many times because I am so new to them. But when they just warm right up to me, it is so easy to get good stuff!

Sweet little David. I loved this session and meeting this sweet family. There is nothing like bringing these precious babies home and seeing them in the little nursery that you spent so many months planning and prepping. Everything culminating to this day. How many months you wait and dream: what will they look like, how tiny will they be, what will their little cry sound like. So many unknowns. But when you see them for the first time, all the waiting and planning and dreaming becomes reality- they are here.

I will never take it for granted, all the moms and dads bringing me into their home to photograph such a special time in their lives. It is just the absolute best.

This session took place in Bossier City, just on the other side of the river from Shreveport, LA. Little David’s family welcomed me into their home and treated me so kindly. I know his parents are just going to do the best job raising him. Thank you, Andersons, for allowing me to document this incredible time for you!

Pruitt Family | Minden Louisiana Family Photographer

The Pruitt family

This session was seriously so much fun! I’m sure you will be able to tell when you see them. There were so many laughs and smiles. It made my day.

We met in a field at our church in Minden, Louisiana. There were just enough fall-looking plants that it made this session scream “IT’S FALL” and I just loved that. We didn’t have a whole lot of light to work with because of the thick layer of clouds that were covering where the sunset would be, but we made it work and I really love these images.

We picked flowers, ran around, a certain boy put moss is his hair (HAHA!!), there was no shortage of fun, I can assure you. That’s how a family session should be, if you ask me. I don’t want anyone to leave their session with me stressed. I always want to create an environment that welcomes fun and relaxation. Where it’s ok for things to not be perfect. Motherhood is far from perfect.

I love being able to capture personality and I would say we did just that with this session.

Smith Family | Shreveport Louisiana Family Photographer

The Smith family
I had the privilege of meeting the Smith family this year when I photographed sweet Vivian’s first birthday party and I instantly fell in love with them. First of all, look how stunning they are!! Second, they are some of the sweetest and most genuine people you will ever meet. Deborah is so full of life and joy. You can’t help but be happy when you are around her. I am so honored that I was able to photograph them for a second time this year. There is truly no greater compliment than to be asked to come back again and again. I will never stop being thankful for the many families that trust me so much. It means the world to me!

We met for our session at the Red River Wildlife Refuge in Shreveport, Louisiana. This is such a lovely location only a few minutes from town. I love photographing families with small children here because there is just so much room for them to run around and play without worry of cars driving by. I also love the pecan trees that decorate the refuge. It is such a lovely and welcoming location.

We had our session mid October and let me tell you, it felt like mid summer. It was so warm! Everyone handled it like a champ and we were able to get some very beautiful images that I just love.

Wright Family | North Louisiana Family Photographer

Meet the Wright family. They are not only so sweet and fun, but look how beautiful they are! I could have photographed them all day.

We met at Lake Bistineau State Park on a Friday evening in early October. It was warm and sunny but were able to stay in the shade for the majority of the session. Lake Bistineau is one of my favorite locations in North Louisiana. I will be the first to admit that North Louisiana doesn’t have the most amazing location known to man, but there are a few pretty good ones. Thankfully, we had the park all to ourselves and it was really nice! Most of the time this park is full of other photographers and their clients. We all have to shoot somewhere, right?! Lake Bistineau just screams Louisiana with its trees draping in Spanish moss. I just love it!

When we began our session, I found out it was Selah’s birthday. How fun!! She is such a sweet little girl. Everything went so well and I even was able to get a few smiles out of Ellie, who started off very unsure about me. It’s always so rewarding when you are able to get the shy ones to open up around you. I never try to push anything on any of the kiddos because I know that I am new to them and maybe a little weird. Haha!! They almost always end up liking me and I always call that a win.

Noah Fair | Shreveport Louisiana Newborn Photographer

The sweetest baby boy I had the honor to photograph. These newborns are just so precious!

Little Noah was so excited for his session with me that he decided to come two weeks early. Haha! Ok, that is stretching the truth a bit. Every baby I have photographed this year have been born early. It’s so fun to have an expected date for their arrival and then they surprise us all.

I arrived at little Noah’s home for his session and began to set everything up. Many times I need to set up lighting equipment but there was such great natural light that I didn’t need it!

We capture pictures of him alone and then added in his mommy and daddy. We were even able to get outdoor portraits which isn’t something I am usually able to get. This was a fun addition.

Everything about this session was just lovely and it was such an honor to, not only, photograph sweet Noah but to also photograph his mommy and daddy while he was in his mommy’s belly.

The Spencer Family

This was the final session from our time in Virginia. Last but certainly not least. I love these people and the location had such a special meaning to them. This is where Gabe and Sarah were married. This is where some of their dear friends live. Now this is where they had their family session with their special baby boy. I love when a location has a story as amazing as this.

We had the most perfect weather and the most gorgeous sunset. It was truly a dream. I could photograph sessions in Virginia ever day of the year and never tire of it. It is such a beautiful state. Maybe that’s because I’m from Louisiana and there isn’t that much beauty here. HA! Either way, Virginia holds a very special place in our hearts. We truly love the people that we have come to call our friends.

The Morris Family

Another sweet family I was able to photograph in Virginia this past Summer.

We met early in the morning to beat the Summer heat and the super harsh midday sun.

This was such a beautiful session. Little Ellie was a dream to photograph. She was so happy and just loving life. Her personality was seriously the sweetest.

Our session was located on a Mennonite farm nestled in Port Republic, Virginia. This is the location of the airbnb that we stayed at. The view of the skyline drive just in the front yard is seriously the best thing to wake up to.

We left Virginia feel so refreshed. It was the perfect change of scenery that we needed.

Griffiths Family | Ruston Louisiana Photographer

Here is another sweet family from our time in Virginia. I had the most wonderful time with each of these families. It just made my whole week to be able to come preserve these special memories for these sweet, sweet people.

This is is the Griffiths family. They were absolute champs. We came thinking we were going to get a break from the Louisiana heat. While it was in some way, better than Louisiana, it was still HOT!! We had to work these photos in in the mid-day sun. That is less than ideal but when you are only in town for a short while, you have to make do with whatever options are available. Not always will you be able to get the ideal lighting.

We spent some time in the sun to get the gorgeous view at our airbnb but we quickly realized it was just too hot; to the shade we went.

It was so nice to have this location right outside of our airbnb for this family’s session. It is absolutely stunning!!

I loved all the fun moments I was able to capture for the Griffiths family. Everyone did so well, and I think we all had fun!

The Diaz family

These are some of our dearest friends. They showed us so much hospitality while we were in Virginia. It was the greatest honor to be able to photograph their family. We just love them so much.

We met the day we arrived in Virginia and went to a stunning location with a gorgeous Mountain view. I can’t get over being able to photograph sessions in the mountains. It is so much more beautiful than what we have to offer in Louisiana. Am I right? I think I’m right.

This was such a fun session and I loved letting the kiddos let their personalities shine. We all had so much fun!
