Let’s a start a new series, Monthly personal blog posts just of our day to day life. Documenting my sweet kids and sharing that with y’all. I know I don’t take photos of my kids enough. Do any of us? Even as a family photographer here in Ruston Louisiana, it’s hard! Life is so busy. This is why mamas hire photographers. hehe
Here is little random tidbits from July 2022. I hope you enjoy!
Do you have a lifestyle newborn session scheduled and struggle with what to wear? As a lifestyle newborn photographer in Shreveport Louisiana, I’m here to help you!!
One thing I always recommend is wearing a neutral colored, flowy dress. We love neutrals and we love dresses! These photograph so well on new mamas and look so elegant.
If you’re going to go with a pattern on your dress, we recommend dainty florals. These are so beautiful and feminine.
The peach orchard in Shreveport Louisiana is a gorgeous location for family photos!! This session was one of my favorites and a bucket list item checked off my list! Photographing a session in an orchard is so fun!!

If you have a sweet baby on the way, nursery deor inspiration is probably something on your search history. Am I right?
As a newborn photographer in Shreveport and surrounding Louisiana areas, I’ve seen some really sweet nurseries. I love photographing the details of these precious rooms because in just a few short years, these rooms change drastically. Having them documented at your newborn session is something you won’t regret. This is one of the reasons I love offering in-home newborn session in North Louisiana.
There is nothing like documenting this incredible time right in the comfort of your very own home. Your safe place. Your retreat away from the craziness. No one will have images just like yours. That’s something really neat, if you ask me.
We polled our mama friends in our private Facebook group asking what their must have baby items were. We got some really great answers and as a photographer for mamas in the Ruston area, I knew I needed to share them.
It’s been a while since I have made a baby registry as my baby is almost 4 years old. A lot has changed since then! If you’re a first time mama, then you’ve never created a registry and it can feel so overwhelming!! But we’re here to help!!
Motherhood is exhausting, especially in the first few months. Our bodies are healing, we’re not getting enough sleep, and we’re trying to keep this new little life fed and happy. It can feel overwhelming. But you’re not alone!
There are amazing communities of moms out there who are in the exact same boat as you. There are amazing people, who are experts in their fields, sharing their wealth of knowledge on social media for your benefit. It’s amazing, right?!
As a mom myself, and a newborn photographer in the Shreveport area, I’ve made it a mission to follow accounts that help us moms. I’ve found some really awesome ones and I’d love to share them with you today!
Here goes:
1. @takingcarababies is a baby and toddler sleep expert. We all need some of that in our lives!
2. @feedinglittles is a baby and toddler feeding expert. They help you know when it’s time to give your baby what and they have great tips for picky eaters!
3. @getmomstrong is a pre and post partum exercise specialist and, in my opinion, and expert in her field. She will teach you how to heal your core post baby and be your strongest self.
It’s so amazing to have resources you can easy reach for in these days of motherhood to help. If you know of any accounts that are a must follow, leave a comment below!
Jen and Abe were so fun to photograph! We met for their session in downtown Minden Louisiana. A sweet southern town with all the southern charm. Downtown Minden is so fun to photograph because of all the historic homes, old trees, beautiful churches, and amazing brick streets. There is nothing like it!
If you haven’t heard, Minden was recently featured on HGTV Home Town Kickstart! This was something so special for this little town nestled in North Louisiana. There are so many people here with a heart to see Minden grow!
When we started this session, storms clouds rolled in and blocked the sun. This took the beautiful, sunlit locations I had scouted and made them a little les glowy, but we made it work! It was crazy and hot and we were all drippng in sweat by the time it was over, but we had a great time!!
These two radiated with love for each other which made it a breeze to photograph. Thank you so much, Jen and Abe! I loved capturing this time with you. I wish you all the happiness in the world!!
Have you ever wondered how you can help a new mom out? As a family and newborn photographer in north Louisiana, I’ve got FIVE tips for you!
Bring her a meal to feed her family! Not having to worry about meals is a huge relief.
Pick up her groceries so she doesn’t have to worry about lugging all the kids to the store
Take a load off of her by watching her kids so she can get an uninterrupted nap, or even just a shower! She’ll thank you for sure!
Come by and do some quick cleaning for her- vacuum, mop, laundry, etc.
Just be there for moral support. Avoid comments like breast is best or comments about her body and/or how tired she looks. Rather, let her know how great of a job she is doing. The newborn stage is overwhelming and exhausting. The last thing she needs is someone telling her she’s doing it all wrong.
We had the incredible privelege of being able to swap family photos with Angela Lloyd. An amazing photographer based out of South Arkansas. She is the sweetest person you’ll ever meet and we loved every second of our time together.
We met out on her family’s land in Lewisville Arkansas where she started photographing our family. Once we were finished we swapped out and I photographed her family. You can see those here.
She was so wonderful with our kids and even mananaged some smiles out of Emma. Which, if you know her, you know that is a feat. She is as goofy as they come at home, but once we are in public she is so shy. We were afraid we wouldn’t get any smiles out of her, but Angela worked her magic and right at the end (when we finaly got to be close-ish to the cows) she warmed up and let her get some great photos that I wil cherish forever.
Thank you again, Angela, for these amazing images of us. I love them so much!!
