Sweet Beginnings: Baby Callie’s In-Home Newborn Session in Haughton, Louisiana

There’s something incredibly special about in-home newborn sessions — the comfort, the authenticity, and the peaceful rhythm of a growing family settling into their new normal. That magic was beautifully present during baby Callie’s session in Haughton, Louisiana.
Wrapped in soft white swaddles and surrounded by the warmth of her family, little Callie was an absolute dream. With her delicate features and peaceful expression, she was the picture of pure newborn sweetness. But what made this session truly heart-melting was her proud big sister, Abigail.

Abigail was full of gentle affection and quiet curiosity. Dressed in a soft floral dress and adorned with a sweet white bow, she lovingly cuddled her new baby sister beside the crib, already stepping into her big sister role with so much grace and tenderness. The way she leaned in to kiss Callie, protectively cradling her tiny form — it was a moment that perfectly captured the start of a beautiful sisterly bond.

The nursery, filled with light and thoughtful touches, provided the perfect backdrop. From the white crib to the soft floral linens, every detail spoke of love and preparation for the newest family member. Sessions like these are such a joy to photograph — the kind that you can feel just by looking at the images.

To the sweet family: thank you for welcoming me into your home and allowing me to preserve these fleeting, precious moments. Baby Callie is already so deeply loved, and it’s clear she has the best big sister to grow up with.
Welcome to the world, sweet girl.

  • Welcoming Annalise: A Heartwarming In-Home Newborn Session in North Louisiana

Welcoming Annalise: A Heartwarming In-Home Newborn Session in North Louisiana

There’s something truly magical about newborn photography—capturing those first precious days when everything is new, delicate, and full of promise. Recently, I had the absolute joy of photographing a sweet baby girl named Annalise in the comfort of her North Louisiana home. This session wasn’t just about Annalise; it was a beautiful moment shared with her big sister, Kinlee, whose gentle love and curiosity brought an extra layer of warmth and connection to the day.
    A Cozy North Louisiana Welcome
Annalise arrived in the world just days before our session, and her parents wanted to capture the raw, tender moments that only a newborn’s early days can bring. Shooting in their home allowed us to create a relaxed and intimate atmosphere—perfect for newborn photography. From soft sunlight filtering through the windows to the familiar surroundings of her nursery, every detail added to the story we were capturing.
    Sisterly Bonds: Kinlee’s Gentle Presence
One of the highlights of the session was the natural bond between Annalise and Kinlee. Kinlee was so gentle and loving with her new baby sister, often holding her tiny hands or simply gazing at her with awe. It was clear from the start that Kinlee was already a proud and protective big sister, and those moments of sibling connection felt truly special.
We captured Kinlee’s sweet smiles, curious eyes, and the tender ways she interacted with Annalise—moments that will surely be cherished forever as these two grow up side by side.
    Details and Delicacy
Newborn sessions are all about those small, perfect details: the tiny fingers and toes, the soft curls of baby hair, and the peaceful expressions as Annalise drifted off to sleep. We incorporated soft blankets, gentle wraps, and natural poses that highlighted her delicate features. The quiet and calm of the home allowed Annalise to feel secure and cozy, making it easier to capture those serene moments every parent dreams of preserving.
Why In-Home Sessions Are So Special
Choosing an in-home newborn session brings a unique level of comfort and authenticity. The baby is surrounded by familiar scents and sounds, which helps them stay calm and peaceful. Parents don’t have to worry about packing up or traveling, and the family’s personal space becomes part of the story—making the photographs even more meaningful.
For Annalise and Kinlee’s family, this session was a beautiful way to freeze time and celebrate the beginning of a new chapter, framed by love and the warmth of home.

If you’re welcoming a new little one soon and want to capture these fleeting moments in a way that feels personal and genuine, I’d love to help tell your story through an in-home newborn session. Every baby and family is unique, and your photos should reflect that special connection.
Here’s to the beautiful beginnings—welcome to the world, Annalise! And big hugs to you, Kinlee, for being the best big sister anyone could ask for.

The sweet Rico kids. I’ve been photographing them for a few years now and each time they are just so much fun. Full of life and energy. I love it!

We met at Lake Bistineau on a beautiful fall day. The kiddos were out of school on break so we were able to do a weekday. It can be hard when kids are in school, especially in the fall, because we have to start our session so early. Time change is a fun one. It’s hard to know what I prefer as far as time changes. Starting sessions earlier in the day means I have to find someone to watch my kiddos, but then I still have time to spend with them before bed after I get back home. Summer sessions can start so much later so hubs can watch the kids for me, but the session is close to bed time for all kids involved. It’s a toss up!

Regardless, these kiddos were so much fun to work with. They gave me plenty of idea and I let them lead the way. I’m photographing kids I find it’s really important to let them do the leading. If I try and force anything on then, odds are they will not want to do it! We all know how kids work, right?! Haha!!

We picked lots of flowers, danced like a princess, waved out our imaginary fans from the “stage” (haha!!), and fought imaginary battles with sticks. I love kids. They are just the best!

December 2024 we welcomed our third baby girl into the world. It was love at first sight.

On December 20th at 3:40 am, we walked into the hospital to begin my 39 week induction. By about 5 am the induction had started. I had been having Braxton Hicks contractions every single day since week 31 so when they hooked me up to the monitor and told me I was already having contractions, it was no surprise.

We started the pitocin at a very low drip and the plan was to slowly increase. After hours of no progress, yet intense pain in certain positions, I decided I would sit on an exercise ball to try and help baby get in the optimal position. When I did this, her heart rate plummeted. We are talking, 60 bpm. The doctors and nurses came in to see if maybe progress was being made, but still nothing.

They decided to stop pitocin and use cytotec with the intent to start pitocin back up later. However, each time they would attempt pitocin her heart rate would act up causing them to ultimately stop the pitocin entirely.

After hours and hours of very slow progress and nurses coming in every 30 minutes to change my position on the peanut ball, things finally started happening. Progress remained slow, but progress is progress.

Finally, as December 20th came and went, at 1:51 in the morning on December 21st our sweet baby girl was born.

It was a long and brutal labor but I would do it all again in a heartbeat for my beautiful baby girl.

Nolan is One | Shreveport Louisiana Family Photographer

Sweet little Nolan and his family. Oh how I loved photographing them! He made me work so hard to get smiles out of him but when I did they were enough to melt your heart.

We met for their session at the red river wildlife refuge in Shreveport. This is always a go to location for me. I love it so much especially when there are littles involved. It’s far enough off the road for there to be no fear of littles and cars, we stay a good bit away from the water. It’s just a win win.

This was such a beautiful day. Not too hot not too cold. Just the ideal weather. The sun was shining. You can’t ask for anything better than that

We were here to document Nolan’s first birthday. I truly love documenting these precious milestones for families. Wether it’s newborn photos, first birthday, or just annual family photos I know how important it is and it’s such an honor to be chosen to document it.

I absolutely loved this family and felt as if I had gained new friends once we left. They were so sweet and so easy to photograph. I could have stayed there all day!

Justin and Lillian’s Lake Bistineau Maternity Portraits | Maternity Photographer In North Louisiana

Justin and Lillian have been in front of my camera many times and every single time I am so in love with what we are able to create. They always trust my vision, never question my antics, and are SO EASY TO PHOTOGRAPH!! We always have way too many photos in the gallery.

This time we did their session at Lake Bistineau state park in north Louisiana. This is such a stunning location! I love the moss in the trees. It gives so much texture to the background of the images and helps diffuse the light so beautifully.

Lillian and myself are both having baby girls and only due about a week or so apart. It will be fun to see who has their baby first (I’m known to be late so I highly doubt it will be me, haha!!) and to watch our sweet girls grow up together.

We had scheduled this session but due to unforeseen circumstances we had to reschedule. We are all so relived that we did reschedule! Our original date was in the upper 90s and our new date was in the 70s. Talk about an amazing difference!! It turned out the be the most perfect day and I am so in love with what we created!

David Turns ONE | Baby Photographer in Shreveport Louisiana

Sweet David is turning ONE!! I can’t believe it! Seems like just yesterday I was in his home in North Louisiana photographing his newborn session and here we are documenting his first birthday. Time goes by so quickly!!

As a baby photographer in Shreveport Louisiana it brings me so much joy to be able to photograph such important milestones for my families. Documenting their maternity sessions, capturing their first family photos during their newborn sessions, and on to celebrating their baby turning one. It is so special to me and I love it so much!!

David was so cute for birthday session. It took him a minute to warm up to me and my big camera but once he did, he was so fun to photograph. I loved all the props mom brought for his session! We had the best time doing these photos! I loved getting to chat and catch up with his sweet mama and daddy.

It was the perfect day at the Red River Wildlife Refuge in Shreveport, Louisiana. This is always a favorite location of mine! We have lots of variety and I’m a sucker for big, pretty trees!!

    Happy birthday David!!

  • Serenity Mitchell | Newborn Photographer In Shreveport Louisiana

Serenity Mitchell | Newborn Photographer In Shreveport Louisiana

The most beautiful and precious baby girl, little Serenity. Oh how I loved photographing this sweet in-home newborn session.

Serenity’s family is no stranger to this blog. You have seen their wedding, maternity photos with big brother, his newborn session, his six month session, first birthday, and his second birthday. I LOOOOOOVE repeat clients like this. It’s truly a photographer’s dream come true!

I met the Mitchell family at their home around 10 am. I find this is a sweet spot because baby is usually happy and usually ready for a good nap, which is what we want. Sleepy baby vibes!!

We started out nice and slow, photographing baby girl in her crib and then moved on to family images, then finishing with just her. I like to go with this workflow because a lot of times I will swaddle baby for family photos after they have gotten a full belly. This usually gives us time for baby to fall into a nice deep sleep during family photos so that they are reeeeally sleeping well for their own debut.

One of my wishes for nearly every newborn session is to capture a baby yawn. Ugh, I love them so much!! When I get one I feel like I can go home happy. Haha!! In all truth though, I seriously love them and they are always one of my favorites form the whole session. But I do usually have way too many favorites!!

I hope you enjoy these sweet photos and consider booking YOUR in home newborn season with CDP!

Jesse Turns ONE | North Louisiana Baby Photographer

Sweet little Jesse had his first birthday. He is one farm loving boy! We were able to get a few family photos and then we put him near the family tractor and he was the happiest little guy you ever did see. Seriously, it was the cutest thing. Jesse and his family live on a farm in North Louisiana and this is where we did his photos. They have cows, pigs, horses, a couple of dogs and a cat. The true farm loving boy’s dream!

I love getting to photograph babies for their first birthday. It’s so fun! You never know how they are going to feel about photos but it always feels like the greatest success when they warm up to you and you get some genuine smiles!!

    Happiest birthday sweet Jesse!!

  • Pennsylvania Trip Pt 1 | North Louisiana Photographer

Early June David and I took a trip to Pennsylvania to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. Technically, he had to be there for work and I tagged along but we went a few days early and stayed a few days later so that we could make a little vacation out of it. Our first stop was Lancaster, PA.

This part of our trip started off a bit rough with the airbnb booked being in a really rough part of town. What I did not realize is that Lancaster and Lancaster County are actually two totally different places. Lancaster is a big city and Lancaster county is smaller towns inside the county that make up Lancaster count and it is all Amish farmland. Or at least, mostly Amish farmland. There are shops and Sight and Sound Theaters and whatnot.

We quickly cancelled our airbnb. Tried to get a refund due to feeling very unsafe staying there, but the owner would not allow any amount of a refund. After going back and forth we decided to reach out to airbnb and they are giving us a partial refund. Hey, better than nothing!

Ok. So now we cancelled that airbnb, now what??

We planned this portion of the trip with some friends who were driving up from VA. They quickly booked an alternative airbnb IN LANCASTER COUNTY (haha!!) and we stayed there. It was soooo nice and peaceful.

For this portion of our trip we did Sight and Sound Theaters, Agape coffee shop and restaurant, we ate at a few Amish restaurants, went to Kitchen Kettle Village, a really good ice cream shop that I don’t even know the name of, and went to Main Street Skirt Exchange. We saw more horse and buggies than we have ever seen (which was previously zero because we DO NOT live near amish country) and more beautiful farm land than I could capture. Word of warning, don’t drive through farm land with your windows rolled down. Haha!!

Thursday afternoon we all split ways. David and I drove to northern PA and our friends went back home to VA. More to come soon!North Louisiana photographer
