Stemen Family | Shreveport Louisiana Family Photographer

The Stemen family is certainly a special group of people. It was such an honor to be able to photograph this legacy. Pictures are so important to have and I am so glad I could have a small part in preserving this legacy.

This sessions was actually outside of the normal range of places I go for photos. Typically I stay around Shreveport Louisiana and surrounding areas. But sometimes life brings really fun opportunities and you get ti travel for work. And so I travelled all the way to Florida! I came specifically for the Smith twins and was also able to do this wonderful extended family session.

We met at Urfer Park in Sarasota on a beautiful Saturday evening. Everything was perfect! All the little kiddos cooperated so well, and I am so happy with how it all turned out. I can’t ever thank families enough for the opportunity to work with me and help preserve their memories. No matter the age, time is fleeting and this stage is worth documenting.

Florida Trip Recap | Ruston Louisiana Newborn Photographer

October 27th I was able to take a trip To Sarasota Florida for the amazing opportunity to photograph newborn twins! Seriously a life goal of mine. Oh I was so excited!! We arrived late Thursday evening and got up bright and early Friday morning for the newborn session. Post session we took Elaine’s friend to the beach and the Old Salty Dog restaurant. They had a blast together!

Saturday morning we headed out to Caspersen beach in Venice, Florida searching for shark teeth. Did you find any? You bet!! Wow was that fun!

After the beach we headed back to Sarasota to clean up and head back out for an extended family session. It was fast and furious but it was fun!! We got some great legacy images.

We tried an Amish restaurant and the met friends for ice cream. We stayed out way too late but had loads of fun!

Sunday we were up and at ‘em again for church and then back out with friends for lunch, Mexican fruit, and coffee. Sounds like a weird combo but it wasn’t all at once. Haha!!

I came for work and I worked. But I also was able to see old friends I haven’t seen in way too many years and met some new ones that I just fell in love with. I totally didn’t get enough pics and I only brought out my big camera for the work related things. But hey, that’s ok. We had a blast and missed Emma so much. She wanted to stay back home with her Nannie and Pop Pop.

Tushner Family | Lake Bistineau Louisiana Family Photographer

Before I get too much into this session, let me just make sure you are sitting down. Because these are just that stinking good. I’m not even kidding. I loved Every. Single. Photo.

The Tushner family is truly an incredible family. They are gifted in so many amazing ways. Not only are they gifted, but they use their gifts for the Lord and I know there is a huge blessing for them because of that. I can’t imagine all the people their gifts have blessed. It has to be quite the amount.

When Lori Anne reached out to me for an extended family session I was so excited. I knew it was going to be good!

If you have been around here for any length of the time you know Andrew and Candace. I was a second photographer for their wedding back in the day, I photographed them when it was just the two of them, maternity portraits, newborn, and now they are here in this extended family session with a little focus on sweet baby Abigail for her six month photos. Little Abigail is miracle from God and what a special little thing she is! She is the most beautiful baby girl I think I have ever seen!

We met for their session on Lake Bistineau in North Louisiana. It is no secret that this is one of my favorite locations. The Cypress trees, the moss, the light. It all works together to create a gorgeous location right here in North Louisiana. It can be hard to find beautiful locations in this area, but there are some really great ones mixed in.

Little Abigail was soooo good for her portraits. We got so many images it was so hard to narrow it down! I may have over done it on their gallery, but hey, that’s ok!!

Sarah’s Branding Portraits | Ruston Louisiana Branding Photographer

My dear friend Sarah from Sarah Ann Photography in East TN and I had the privilege to meet up in Ruston Louisiana for a branding shoot swap. This was seriously so much fun!! We met through instagram and quickly realized we both had very similar interests. We both are photographers with very similar styles. We both love health and fitness. We both enjoy running. We are both Katelyn James fans (IYKYK) AND our birthdays are only days apart. We are basically the same person. Well, she is the more outgoing one while I am the less outgoing one. Haha! But nevertheless, we knew we had to meet in real life.

She came to Louisiana for meeting our church was having and we officially were able to meet each other. Then she came back to photograph a wedding that I was able to second shoot for her and we squeezed this branding shoot in. Funny enough, a few weeks later we went to VA and made a pit stop in TN to say hi. She is such a genuine person and friend that I am so thankful I was able to meet. It amazes me how God can bring people into your life seemingly so randomly, yet it’s like you have known each other your entire life. Sarah is this way. We haven’t really known each other very long but I tell you, you wouldn’t know it.

For this branding session we met up at Railway coffee in Ruston Louisiana. This was my first time to visit and little did I know it is owned by John Luke Robertson from Duck Dynasty. What is even crazier is that he came there while we were there. WHAAT?!?! I’m not too head over heels for famous people, but it was kind of cool!

After the coffee shop we went to a beautiful home in Ruston and sweated like crazy to get these beautiful outdoor images. It was worth it though!

We had the best time together and I can’t wait to do something like this again!

Joseph | Shreveport Louisiana Photographer

I still can not believe this guy is a senior in high school! Where does time go?? It seems like just yesterday he was a little boy in kindergarten and now here he is, finishing up his senior year. Whew!

Joseph is such an awesome guy. He is so driven to serve the Lord with all his heart and he has such a gentle nature. It was a privilege to be able to document this special time for him.

We met at Lake Bistineau in North Louisiana. This park is my go to for a country boy’s senior session. It has it all. I knew we were going to try and pull some elements of things he enjoys outdoors so this was definitely the best location.

We started with a more formal-type outfit and then moved to recreate a photo from when he was a little boy. This was so fun! We finished with some images that showed his love for outdoors. I love incorporating hobbies and interests in senior sessions. It makes them so much more personal.

Miles Family | Minden Louisiana Photographer

The Miles Family

I have had the privilege to photograph them for years and each time I feel so thankful. It’s one thing for a family to trust you with these memories one time, but year after year really means a whole, whole lot! God has been so good to me to bless me with the ability to serve such incredible families. The Miles family is no exception to that statement. They are an incredible family with such great kids, too!

We met at Academy Park in Minden Louisiana for this family session. We have had some really great weather in North Louisiana but for some reason this day decided to pretend it was Summer again. Thanks Mother Nature.

In all seriousness, it was a beautiful day. And the park was a great location for our session. This park is located just across the street from Sarah with Simply Southern Cottage. Any one follow her on Instagram? She has really put Minden on the map and it’s because of her and her friend’s efforts that Minden was on HGTV Hometown Kickstart!

One thing I love during family sessions with younger ones is to make it fun! Incorporate games so that no one is bored. Bored kiddos don’t photograph well. But kiddos who are having fun do! We played lots of games during this session and I think everyone had a good time! I know I did.

Adams Family | Minden Louisiana Photographer

There is nothing but love for the Adams family. A true Godly family and that I have loved being able to photograph year after year. They are so fun and full of life and laughter. You won’t find a more genuine family.

We met on a beautiful day in September on a gorgeous property in Minden Louisiana. We had beautiful sunshine and lots of lovely greens to create such a wonderful contrast. We all had such a wonderful time together and I know these images will be cherished for a lifetime. There is something about documenting your family year after year that is so special.

I am so thankful for each of the families that I have been so blessed to work with and I look forward to all the ones to come.

Emma’s Birthday Portraits + Elaine | Minden Louisiana Photographer

My sweet Emma turned 4 at the beginning of October. A few weeks before her birthday we took some time to document her being 4. Birthday portraits is something that I always make sure I take the time to get. Seeing my girls grow and change each year is sad, but I’m always so glad I took the photos. I love seeing how their personality blossoms and changes from year to year.

Emma is such a goofy girl at home and around people she is very comfortable with. In public she is very shy. One day she will break out of her shell in public and we will wish she was shy again. Haha!! She is so much fun and keeps us laughing. Sometimes she will say or do something and we will think “where on earth did you get that from?!” Her favorite store is Walmart and has been since she could talk. No idea why. But she loves it. HA!! McDonald’s is her favorite place to eat. Typical kid, right?

Emma loves our dogs Luna and Sandy. She gives them hugs all the time and sometimes she will just go outside by herself and play with them. They love her too. I’m sure it helps that she sneaks them treats. Stinker head.

Emma is pure joy and we love her so very much!

Hey mama, you’re doing a good job | Ruston Louisiana family photographer

If there was only one thing I could tell a mama I would want to make sure it was something that would be beneficial and encouraging to her. There’s a million and one people giving her advice, pointing out what she’s maybe not doing right, and saying things that tear down. She doesn’t need to hear anymore of those things.

Motherhood is beautiful and trying. The sleepless nights. The tears from both you and baby because you can’t figure out what’s wrong. The ache in your heart as you watch your baby grow and do things that don’t need your help anymore. There’s so much joy and so much overwhelm.

If there were only one thing I could say, it would be “you’re doing a good job.” It doesn’t matter if your baby has colic and is crying all hours of the night. It doesn’t matter if they are a dream and sleep all night. Maybe they don’t nap unless you hold them. Maybe they are content to be put down. Maybe they’re not. Maybe they are breastfed. Maybe they are formula fed. Maybe they are fed through a feeding tube. None of these determine whether you are doing a good or bad job. None of these define you as a mom.

You are doing a good job, mama. Your baby is loved. You’re doing your very best. You’re doing a good job.

One day that baby will grow up and look back on their childhood and say, “wow, my mom was the best mom in the world and I only hope I can raise my kids the way she raised me.” And when you see them with their own family, raiding their own babies, you’ll stand proud knowing that you did a good job.

So don’t let the current circumstances or what others say try to define you as a mother. You are doing you’re very best and yes, you are doing a good job.
