Sweet little Nolan and his family. Oh how I loved photographing them! He made me work so hard to get smiles out of him but when I did they were enough to melt your heart.
We met for their session at the red river wildlife refuge in Shreveport. This is always a go to location for me. I love it so much especially when there are littles involved. It’s far enough off the road for there to be no fear of littles and cars, we stay a good bit away from the water. It’s just a win win.
This was such a beautiful day. Not too hot not too cold. Just the ideal weather. The sun was shining. You can’t ask for anything better than that
We were here to document Nolan’s first birthday. I truly love documenting these precious milestones for families. Wether it’s newborn photos, first birthday, or just annual family photos I know how important it is and it’s such an honor to be chosen to document it.
I absolutely loved this family and felt as if I had gained new friends once we left. They were so sweet and so easy to photograph. I could have stayed there all day!
I have photographed this precious family several times, all such special moments that I have been so honored to photograph. It all started with their engagement session, newborn season of their first baby girl, extended family photos and maternity photos, newborn session with their second baby girl and now this beautiful family session. I know I have said this many times, but when families come back year after year it thrills my heart. To know that they trust me, not just once, but over and over again with their most precious times in life. I do not take it lightly. It is the greatest honor.
We started this sweet session in my backyard. Haha!! Hey, wherever a pretty spot is we can make work. After we finished up there we moved on to the second location where we captured some of the most fun-filled images. With toddlers it is so important that you keep them engaged. If all we are doing is smiling at the camera they will get bored FAST!! This is where I encourage play rather than poses. We sing songs, we run around mom and dad, we swing, we play airplane. Anything that sounds fun, we give it a try. There’s always something that littles like best and want to keep playing over and over. For Selah, she loved everything we did and I’m convinced we could have played these games until there wasn’t a speck of light left in the sky.
I loved reliving this session as I edited the photos, remembering all the fun we had together. I know these are memories that mama will cherish forever!!!
On a whim, like most things I do, I decided it was the perfect day to do our family photos. I knew the location I wanted to do them at so I quickly got our outfits together and we all got ready to leave. I always do self portraits for our own family sessions and although it can be stressful, I like that I can just randomly decide when and where and make it happen. Then if it doesn’t happen we just try again another time. But it almost always works well.
This time we parked on the side of the road about 15 minutes from our home in north Louisiana and we hoped out of the car. I started but getting pictures of David and the girls and then moved to letting Elaine get some photos of me and David. David then got pictures of me and the girls. Then we moved to the tripod set up with the timer. This was fun being on the side of the road where people driving by could see us all randomly smiling at the camera on the side of the road. Haha!!! We laughed and laughed about that one. It was actually lots of fun!
These are definitely some of my favorites that I have taken of us and this location is high up on my list of favorites ever! The lighting is pretty tricky though and timing is everything! But I am so glad we got these done here and I have since done another session there that I love just as much.
Sweet David is turning ONE!! I can’t believe it! Seems like just yesterday I was in his home in North Louisiana photographing his newborn session and here we are documenting his first birthday. Time goes by so quickly!!
As a baby photographer in Shreveport Louisiana it brings me so much joy to be able to photograph such important milestones for my families. Documenting their maternity sessions, capturing their first family photos during their newborn sessions, and on to celebrating their baby turning one. It is so special to me and I love it so much!!
David was so cute for birthday session. It took him a minute to warm up to me and my big camera but once he did, he was so fun to photograph. I loved all the props mom brought for his session! We had the best time doing these photos! I loved getting to chat and catch up with his sweet mama and daddy.
It was the perfect day at the Red River Wildlife Refuge in Shreveport, Louisiana. This is always a favorite location of mine! We have lots of variety and I’m a sucker for big, pretty trees!!
This session was the final session in the series of family sessions from our family vacation to Virginia. To say I was sad to leave this gorgeous place is an understatement. It is so easy to photograph a location THIS good!!
We met the Borlovan family at their beautiful home for their session. Ugh, how gorgeous!! We made our way to mom’s favorite spot on their land to being their session and I can totally tell why it is her favorite spot. I was in photographer heaven. Haha!!
Each of the kiddos were so sweet and cooperative. We had so much fun together and even ended with the horses. It was truly a dream that I wish I could relive over and over again.
The Diaz family. We love them so much! We met them around three years ago and almost instantly became friends. It was a joy to photograph them again this year while we made our family vacation in Virginia.
We chose this stunning location in the Virginia countryside, surrounded by lush green mountains. We had the warm, glowing sunlight and a beautiful blue sky to help create images that I know this family will cherish for a lifetime.
There is never a family session that I photograph that I am not finding some way to incorporate fun into the session to help everyone feel at ease. I always want their true personalities to shine through with every image. This better tells their story instead of only capturing stiff poses. If we have ever worked together then you know how I feel about this. We love movement and fun!!
Another beautiful family session from our family vacation to Virginia. This session took place at a local park. Because of traveling and weather, we had to choose a time that was a little less than ideal but with some beautiful tree cover we were able to make the best of our situation and we had lovely results.
These sweet kiddos are so fun to photograph. They are full of smiles and laughs. Their personalities just shine through. You know you have done well when you hear kids saying they are having so much fun at their session. That’s what I love to hear! My goal for every session is for everyone to leave with little stress and lots of joy. I know sometimes getting everyone to cooperate can feel chaotic but chaos sometimes creates the best images. We go with the flow and never force anything. Incorporating games into poses makes for natural laughter and fun.
I hope you enjoy these sweet photos as much as I do
For the past three years we have taken a family vacation to Virginia. As a photographer in the North Louisiana area, getting to travel and photograph in areas with stunning landscapes brings a whole new sense of enjoyment for what I do. We have come to know some of the sweetest families during these trips and are so thankful for each one.
This precious family is the Breeden family. They have a stunning property where they board race horses and care for them. Is this not every little girl’s dream? I know it is my little Emma’s dream.
We had the most beautiful weather for this session and the prettiest sunlight. As a natural light photographer, chasing the sunlight is kind of what we do. Haha! This was such a great spot to do just that.
We had such good time working together that we continued well after the sun went down. Everything was such a dream and I just adore these images!
Sweet little Jesse had his first birthday. He is one farm loving boy! We were able to get a few family photos and then we put him near the family tractor and he was the happiest little guy you ever did see. Seriously, it was the cutest thing. Jesse and his family live on a farm in North Louisiana and this is where we did his photos. They have cows, pigs, horses, a couple of dogs and a cat. The true farm loving boy’s dream!
I love getting to photograph babies for their first birthday. It’s so fun! You never know how they are going to feel about photos but it always feels like the greatest success when they warm up to you and you get some genuine smiles!!
Early June David and I took a trip to Pennsylvania to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. Technically, he had to be there for work and I tagged along but we went a few days early and stayed a few days later so that we could make a little vacation out of it. Our first stop was Lancaster, PA.
This part of our trip started off a bit rough with the airbnb booked being in a really rough part of town. What I did not realize is that Lancaster and Lancaster County are actually two totally different places. Lancaster is a big city and Lancaster county is smaller towns inside the county that make up Lancaster count and it is all Amish farmland. Or at least, mostly Amish farmland. There are shops and Sight and Sound Theaters and whatnot.
We quickly cancelled our airbnb. Tried to get a refund due to feeling very unsafe staying there, but the owner would not allow any amount of a refund. After going back and forth we decided to reach out to airbnb and they are giving us a partial refund. Hey, better than nothing!
Ok. So now we cancelled that airbnb, now what??
We planned this portion of the trip with some friends who were driving up from VA. They quickly booked an alternative airbnb IN LANCASTER COUNTY (haha!!) and we stayed there. It was soooo nice and peaceful.
For this portion of our trip we did Sight and Sound Theaters, Agape coffee shop and restaurant, we ate at a few Amish restaurants, went to Kitchen Kettle Village, a really good ice cream shop that I don’t even know the name of, and went to Main Street Skirt Exchange. We saw more horse and buggies than we have ever seen (which was previously zero because we DO NOT live near amish country) and more beautiful farm land than I could capture. Word of warning, don’t drive through farm land with your windows rolled down. Haha!!
Thursday afternoon we all split ways. David and I drove to northern PA and our friends went back home to VA. More to come soon!
Flying above the clouds always makes me happy The much better Airbnb*Singsong voice* agapeeeeeMy drink choices for the trip- iced dirty chia (amazing!!) and plain lattes (delish)About to watch Daniel at sight and sound- it was goooood
