Neevan’s First Birthday | Shreveport Louisiana Baby Photographer

Sweet Neevan turns ONE!! This horse derby themed birthday party in Shreveport was seriously so cute!! Neevan was such a happy boy for his big day too. It can be hard for little ones with so many people looking at them constantly but he was a champ!

All the details within this party were thought out so carefully and looked so wonderful. Great job, mama!!

It was a hot day in Shreveport, Louisiana but it was worth it to get a little ride on the horses in the backyard. All the kids loved that! It is so fun to see the different activities that mamas come up with for these sweet baby’s first birthday parties. I just love getting to document all these special moments of motherhood!!

Happy first birthday Neevan. You are such a precious baby boy.

Byram Family | North Louisiana Family Photographer

Meet the Byram family. If you’re from the North Louisiana area then you probably know a few of these faces from the medical field. George Byram is a CRNA at Minden Medical and Trey Byram is an Orthopedic Surgeon in Shreveport. How neat is that?

It was such an honor to meet these lovely people and play a part in documenting their family.

It was a hot day and rain was threatening to ruin the session, but we decided to risk it. The rain cleared away and the sun broke through the clouds. It ended up being lovely! I was so glad we didn’t reschedule.

We planned our session together in the flags that the Abshire’s put out each year. These flags are something special and it was wonderful to be able to photograph another family in them.

Sweet Cooper. Oh how I loved this newborn session. I mean, look at the nursery. AH, I love it!!!

Rachel reached out to me to photograph her sweet baby boy that was on the way and I was so thrilled. Newborn sessions are very high up on the list of being my absolute favorite to photograph. I love to capture the beauty in parenthood. I know without any doubt it is a hard season of life. Bringing these brand new, helpless little babies home from the hospital is scary. You aren’t sure if you’re doing anything right. I mean, is there really a right or wrong way?? As long as they are loved and looked after I would say you are doing it right. I digress. This season of life is hard, but I find so much joy in knowing that I can captures moments for brand new parents that lets them see just how beautiful this new role is. And that they are stepping into it so perfectly.

Sweet Cooper did so good for me. He slept most of the time. Ah, a newborn photographer’s dream. We even got Hopper in some images and he did awesome. Such a good boy!

This newborn session was an absolute dream and I am so thrilled to share this post with y’all. I hope you love it as much as me. I may have delivered a ridiculous amount of images from this session. HA!!

Baker | Shreveport Louisiana Newborn Session

Sweet little Baker. Oh how I adore photographing these precious new babies. This is definitely my most favorite thing to photograph. It’s such a special time. It goes so quickly and many times it can feel like a fog because it is not easy. But it is so beautiful. I have never come into the home of new parents and thought anything but “how beautiful.”

Meeting the Rentz family was the highlight of my day. They are some of the sweetest people that I have had the privilege of photographing. They were so welcoming and kind to me. So trusting as I worked to soothe and photograph their precious new boy.

Little Baker’s nursery was so cute with all the blue and white gingham. The puppy dogs were such a sweet touch, too! It is so to see the different ways that mamas find to decorate their nurseries. Every one so unique and so cute. I always make it a point to get images of it because it won’t be long until that room is changed into an older kid room. I want mamas to have photos to look back on to see how sweet the room was back then. Is that not just a sad thought?

I can never say it enough but the saying it so true. The days are long but the years are short. You don’t realize how short they are until you are several years removed from newborn-hood. Then you realize, time goes so very fast.

It is the highest honor that I can ever receive to have brand new parents welcome me into their home to document this incredible time in their lives.

Abigail is One | Ruston Louisiana Baby Photographer

This little cutie babe graduated her milestone sessions with CDP and it’s a happy/sad day. She’s a little miracle and it has been the greatest joy to document her life.
Abigail is the sweetest baby girl and lights up a room with her sweet, sweet smile. You can’t be around her without smiling with her.

We met at Louisiana Tech University because of their tulip garden. When we arrived the tulips were already gone. NOOO!! However, there were other flowers so we made it work. It was such a beautiful day with perfect weather. We couldn’t have asked for a better day.

I loved every second of this first birthday session and I can’t wait to continue to watch Little Abigail grow and blossom into whatever God has in store for her precious life.

What do you need for an in home newborn session? | Newborn Photographer in north Louisiana

If you’re expecting a baby and wanting in-home newborn portraits but you’re afraid your home isn’t photo worthy. As a newborn photographer in north Louisiana, let me put those fears to rest.

You don’t have to have amazing light, I have a flash system to create natural looking light when there isn’t much available.

You don’t have to have a magazine worthy nursery to have gorgeous images. This is a time to document a new chapter in your life. If the nursery isn’t absolutely perfect, that’s ok!

You just had a baby, I don’t require you to have a spotless clean home. I know you are exhausted. I promise don’t judge if you have dishes in your sink or the breakfast mess is still on the table. I’m human too, I get it!

All you need is a photographer who knows how to create gorgeous images in whatever lighting situation they find themselves and that makes you feel amazing

Amy and Sebastiaan Maternity Portraits | Minden Louisiana Photographer

Today we are pulling from the vault for this sweet maternity session.

Amy and Sebastiaan came all the way from Europe for these pictures. Ok, fine, that’s not true. They did come from all the way from Europe, but the photos in Louisiana were not orginally part of the plan. You see, Amy is my husband’s sister. Her and Sebastiaan came down for Thanksgiving and while they were here we grabbed some pictures.

They are having their first baby in Feburary and we all can’t wait to see how beautiful she is going to be. And I know they will be amazing parents. Our girls love them both so much. They are moving on in their travels in the US today so of course I’m posting this because we already miss them and they just left. Boo for long distances.

We planned to get these pictures done in the evening but after realizing it was going to rain from noon until…. well, all night, we realized we had to make do with the morning cloudy skies. Within minutes of us starting, the rain came. Thankfully, it was only a drizzle. But it did not help with the chilly temps. We sped through the photos so as to not freeze from being wet and cold.

But in the end, these pictures turned out so well. Thanks for trusting me to capture this sweet time for y’all. We love y’all so much!

Three pieces of advice for a new mama | Ruston Louisiana Newborn Photographer

Being a new mama is hard, I know! There is so much that changes- your body, your sleep, your eating; literally everything changes. I don’t ever pretend to think that I have it all together or that I know more than anyone else; trust me when I say, I don’t.

Hey, sweet friend! I’m a mama and a newborn photographer in the Ruston Louisiana area. I specialize in in-home newborn photography with a lifestyle approach. This type of photography absolutely fills my cup and brings me so much joy. I have had the amazing privilege to work with some amazing mamas in the surrounding north Louisiana areas and if there was any piece of advice I could give them, this is what I would say:

The first thing I could ever tell a new mama is to give yourself grace, upon grace. I heard this before and it stuck with me- you have never been this mama before. You may have been a mom of one or two, but you have never been a mom of three. This is all new.
This applies to even if this is your first baby. No matter how many times you bring a new baby into the world, it’s always going to be a new experience. Give yourself grace.

The second thing I would say is to see a pelvic floor PT. You will thank me later if you follow this advice. Bringing babies into the world bring a lot of trauma to your body. Working with someone specialized in the areas of diastases recti and pelvic floor will help with all things recovery! Learning to use your core again after having a baby is SO empowering!

The last thing I would say, or recommend, would be to enjoy every minute. Now, I know, I know, every minute isn’t enjoyable. Trust me, I know. I have been there. There are a lot of moments that you are just wishing you could get some sleep, wishing the crying or fussing or whining would stop. But also trust me when I say, it goes by so fast!! Like, unfairly fast. When you are in the think of the newborn and baby raising, it feels like you will be in this stage forever. But before you know it, they are off to school and not needing their mama anymore. I think we can all do better at enjoying the moments a little bit better. The baby sleeping on your chest, the snuggles and cuddles, how you can fix everything with a little kiss. The innocence of babies.

If I could leave you with some final words, I would say that you’re doing an amazing job. And I really, really mean that!

When is the best time to schedule your newborn session? | newborn photographer in Ruston Louisiana

Deciding when to schedule your newborn session can be a little challenging. You don’t know when baby will arrive so how will you know when to book your session?? This is a great question!

As a newborn photographer in Ruston Louisiana I’ve got the answer for you.

The very best way to know you’ll get on our calendar for your precious newborn session is to being the booking process as early on in your pregnancy as possible.

Yes, you don’t know exactly when baby will be here. But we have an estimated date. It’s best to schedule roughly 10 days after your estimated due date. Once baby arrives, we will determine if that date is still the best. If you go over your due date we can make adjustments. If baby came early, we can make adjustments.

Our calendar fills up fast, therefore it is always best to book your session early!

However, if your baby is already here and within the 2-3 weeks of age window we can try our best to work you in.

We are so happy for you and this precious life you are bringing into the world and can’t wait to serve you in this amazing way.

Sweet baby Weston. Have I told you I love to photograph newborns? Oh I have, good..

As a newborn photographer in north Louisiana I think it is no secret that this is my favorite part of photography. These precious newborns. The time with them so little goes by so very, very fast. It is so hard, but it is so wonderful all at the same time. God entrusts us with these precious lives and through Him we are able to raise them into wonderful people. There is nothing more amazing than that. It takes a lot of grace. A lot of patience. A lot of hard work. But it is so beer, very worth it.

This sweet session is from the archives but it is definitely a favorite. Seeing the love these siblings have for their new baby brother is just so very sweet. I hope you enjoy it.
